Hydrogen Power

Hydrogen generation technology for efficient combustion and stable output

KHPS Hydrogen Power Technology

Hydrogen is a clean fuel that emits only water when burned, making it a key energy source for achieving carbon neutrality. Since its establishment in 2023, KHPS has focused on developing hydrogen power generation technology and currently possesses technological capabilities to support both 100% hydrogen-only combustion and co-firing systems with existing natural gas.

Technology Development Status

1. Combustion Efficiency Optimization Technology

Hydrogen has a combustion speed three times faster than natural gas, which can lead to high flame temperatures and increased NOx emissions. We have solved these problems through combustor design optimization and staged combustion control technology, achieving generation efficiency of over 45%.

2. Output Stabilization System

To compensate for hydrogen fuel supply instability, we developed real-time fuel supply monitoring and predictive control algorithms. This maintains output stability within 2% even during load fluctuations.

3. Safety Systems

We have built a triple safety system including hydrogen leak detection, automatic shut-off valves, and emergency stop systems to meet industrial power plant safety standards.

Key Cases

2024 Demonstration Project

We constructed a 5MW-class hydrogen co-firing demonstration plant in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, and demonstrated stable operation at a 30% hydrogen co-firing ratio. Currently, we are advancing technology with a target of 50% co-firing ratio.

Future Plans

  • 2026: Target for commercialization of 100% hydrogen-only combustion
  • 2027: Plan for commercial operation of 100MW-class hydrogen power plant
  • 2030: Target to achieve 20% market share in domestic hydrogen power generation
